Western Constructors Is Family-Owned

Many people know Bruce Milyard. He’s ran Western Constructors since 1974. For a long time, in fact (and even some to this day), Western Constructors was simply known as “Bruce’s company.” There’s a rich legacy when a person who’ve lived in an area for their entire lives has also helped build that area from the ground up. You can see projects of Bruce’s and Western Constructors all over Grand Junction and the Grand Valley. Western Constructors is family-owned and though we perform work all over the United States, we’re deeply committed to the Western Slope of Colorado. So, of course people know Bruce’s name.

Western Constructors also used to be known as “Constructors West.” Like many of the companies growing/ developing in Grand Junction today, we started small. There are many similarities, in fact, between Western Constructors’ origin and companies like Bonsai Design and Rocky Mounts, who’s new corporate headquarters we’re currently building (as of the time of this writing) at Las Colonias. We began our business to help people and to make a difference in the community we love. Bruce raised his family in Grand Junction, and while raising them, brought together a talented group of people to also raise up the city in which they all lived. It’s amazing to look back at some of the things Bruce and Western Constructors have accomplished over the last 47 years.

Our Legacy Is That We Build Relationships

We’ve been successful over time because of the great relationships we’ve built. Whenever we work with a new partner or company, we give them the very best treatment that a person could ask for. We exceed our clients’ goals because we recognize that every project is different, and every person has unique ideas and needs. Our detailed attention to our clients’ projects saves time and money for everyone involved. We’re always asking ourselves and our clients: “is there a better way?” It’s never worth it to go for good: you have to go for great. When you work with us, you’re part of our family. And family gets only the best.

Today, Western Constructors is so much more than one person, and it’s becoming so much more than just commercial and residential construction. Bruce’s children have joined him in his legacy business, and they in turn have brought many others with them to grow the company. Western Constructors has, and will continue to perform projects all over the United States as our company continues to grow, but we’re especially excited about what’s happening now in Grand Junction, CO.

And we’re especially excited about providing more opportunities for those around us as we continue Bruce’s legacy. One of the advantages of Western Constructors developing to be more than just its owner is that we have so many more people now on our team. We’ve become so much bigger than just one person.

We’re Working To Improve Grand Junction

If you’ve read our latest blogs, you seen the changes taking place in Grand Junction right now. Our construction projects at Cornersquare, in the Redlands, at Dos Rios, and especially Las Colonias are helping to shape the future of our wonderful city. They’re stretches that were formerly known as “a blighted area” because of trash buildup, unsafe environmental problems, and abandoned buildings. Now, as mentioned on the Colorado Public Radio, many residents of Grand Junction believe that the Las Colonias/ Dos Rios improvements will do for Grand Junction what the Lower Downtown (LoDo) redevelopment did for Denver.

It will be wonderful for all of us to see more tenants move in to the Las Colonias business park and the revitalization that success produces for the rest of Grand Junction.

As the legacy of Western Constructors continues, one of our main goals is to help Grand Junction no longer be a boom-and-bust town. Of course, no single company can single-handedly fix a problem like that. So, our contribution to the goal is our “string of pearls” – a series of residential and especially commercial projects that provide excellent building space and residential homes to people living in and moving to Grand Junction. We also want to entice/ keep more large, national-size companies that fit into the Grand Junction lifestyle, to set up long-term or permanent headquarters in Grand Junction – companies like Bonsai Design and Rocky Mounts.

Staying “Grand Junction” But Moving Into The Future

We still have a certain type of company we want here. We’re dedicated to still staying “Grand Junction,” but we want to improve what we already have by getting rid of that boom-and-bust cycle that Grand Junction’s known for. The only way we’ll do that as a community at this point is by bringing in more high-quality, large-scale companies.

One of the biggest advantages to working with Western Constructors for any person looking to build a new home or commercial space is that they’re getting expert advice and construction services from an entire family who’s made Grand Junction their home. We know the Grand Valley and the people in it. We have an entire team dedicated to your projects. Because when you’re building with us, your project is our project. And we want every location we build to be as incredible as possible.
